INTERPLAY BETWEEN THE RAW

“Interplay Between the Raw” explores the friction between foundation and expression. Utilizing the structural weight of charcoal against the impulsive vibrance of pastel and paint, these works document a physical dialogue, unrefined energy of the medium. These artworks were created in 2019, a year when I experienced a personal creative enlightenment; I focused on materials such as charcoal, acrylic, along with pastel and ink, choosing techniques that allowed expressive freedom while keeping studio mess to a minimum.
